Our Board
Heather M. Hopkins, Founder and Board Co-Chair, launched My New Red Shoes after hearing a story from her mother about growing up poor, dreading the first day of school, and feeling ashamed of her clothing. In 2006 and 2008, Heather served as the volunteer Executive Director of My New Red Shoes and led successful back-to-school seasons, serving over 950 underprivileged Bay Area children and engaging over 100 housed students in the effort to support their homeless peers. Through her efforts, Heather was awarded the Jefferson Award for Public Service in 2007. She graduated from Princeton University. Heather can be reached at heather@mynewredshoes.org.

Timi Most, Board Co-Chair, helped found Daybreak Shelter, the first urban homeless shelter for teenagers in the United States, where she has continued to volunteer for 15 years. In addition, Timi is the head of Mission Ministries at Christ Church in Portola Valley, CA. A mother of three, Timi has volunteered for 18 years in Menlo Park schools and graduated from the University of Miami with a BA in English Literature.

Alison Berkley Wagonfeld, Board Vice Chair, is the Executive Director of Harvard Business School California Research Center located in Menlo Park, CA. Alison is on the board of the HBS Alumni Association of Northern California. After graduating from HBS, Alison joined Intuit, where she founded the company’s home-loan business, QuickenLoans. Alison was the Senior VP of Marketing and Business Development at Greenlight.com. She lives in Hillsborough, CA with her husband, David Wagonfeld, and their three young children. Alison received her BA from Yale University and her MBA from Harvard Business School.

Andrew Page, Board Treasurer, brings nearly 20 years of finance and business strategy experience to his role as Treasurer for My New Red Shoes. Andy is the President of Gilt Groupe, an online, invitation-only luxury goods retailer. Prior to joining Gilt, Andy was COO and Financial Officer of PlayPhone Inc., where he was responsible for managing all aspects of the company’s operations across 15 countries. Andy holds a BA from Princeton University and an MBA from Harvard Business School.

John Brown, Board Secretary, has been involved in marketing in the technology industry for over 15 years and is currently a manager of market research at Apple, Inc. He holds a Master's degree in counseling psychology from the University of San Francisco and currently has a therapeutic practice in San Mateo, CA. John is a motivational speaker for teens and couples and has been active in the youth population as a youth group leader and mentor over the last nine years.

Ken Pelowski, Board Member, Ken Pelowski is a Managing Partner at Pinnacle Ventures, a private venture capital fund he founded in 2004. Prior to Pinnacle, Ken was an EIR at Redpoint Ventures. In 1999, Ken founded Currenex, which provides a platform for the electronic foreign exchange service industry. Ken has also held senior management positions at Preview Travel (now Travelocity), GetThere (a Brentwood Venture Capital/USVP portfolio company), General Instruments, Quantum Corporation, Sun Microsystems and Intel. Ken currently serves as a Board Director at Aquantia, Cobalt Technologies, Kabam and SocialVibe. He received a BSE in electrical engineering and an MBA from the University of Michigan.

Megan Iwersen, Board Member, has extensive experience in specialty retailing for apparel and footwear. She held the position of Vice President of Merchandising for Gap Canada. The majority of her 15-year career at Gap was spent focused on kids products where she saw firsthand the powerful impact clothing has on the confidence of children. Currently Megan is the Vice President of Apparel at Ariat, Int'l, an equestrian clothing and footwear company. Megan has a Bachelor’s degree in Economics from Stanford University and a Master’s of Business Administration Degree from UC Berkeley.

Michelle DeMartini Wlazlo, Board Member, is Senior VP of Merchandising for Old Navy. Michelle leads the Men’s and Women’s divisions as well as Canadian Merchandising and Licensing for the brand – overseeing the product strategies, competitive positioning, and long-range vision for these businesses. A native of Steamboat Springs, Colorado, Michelle attended Lowthian College in Minneapolis and was certified in the Executive Education program at the Columbia University Graduate School of Business.

Ray Bramson, Board Member, is a Donor Engagement Officer at Silicon Valley Community Foundation. Prior to joining the Community Foundation, Ray worked with EHC LifeBuilders, a Santa Clara County safety net organization, as Director of Development. An alumnus of U.C. Santa Barbara, he spent the year following his graduation as a Corps Member in Americorps NCCC, serving impoverished communities throughout the Southeastern United States.

Sohi Sohn Chien, Board Member, is a policy specialist at Google, Inc. Prior to Google, Sohi worked at the Boys and Girls Clubs of the Peninsula as the Director of Volunteer Services and Community Partnerships. Sohi also served on the Palo Alto Unified School District Board of Education. She earned her BS in Biology and her MA in Anthropological Sciences from Stanford University.

Advisory Board
Lisa Goldman, Advisory Board Member, serves on the boards of Youth Tennis Advantage, Friends of the California Academy of Sciences, and the Lisa and Douglas Goldman Fund. Her community service involvement included serving on the boards of the Hamlin School in San Francisco and the Parent Board of UC Berkeley. She was Executive Director of the Fresno Jewish Community Federation and founding Executive Director of the Fresno Jewish Community Center, where she served as chair for many events, including the opening gala and the Opening Ceremonies of the 2009 Maccabi Games. Since its inauguration in 2005, she co-chairs the Stern Grove Festival’s Annual Gala. Lisa graduated from the University of Southern California with a degree in public relations.

Marianne Walters, Advisory Board Member, has been on the Board of My New Red Shoes since 2006. She has over 20 years of experience in elementary education. She taught 1st-5th grades and served as Vice-Principal at Oak Knoll School in Menlo Park. Marianne has Masters degrees in both Early Childhood Education and Educational Administration. A past Board member of the Menlo Park Atherton Education Foundation, Marianne received the 2006 Golden Oak Award from the Menlo Park School District. Marianne currently serves on three other Boards that serve at-risk children. Marianne continues to consult in the field of education.
