Volunteer Opportunities
Community engagement has been central to our mission since we were founded in 2006. Since then, more than 5,000 volunteers of all ages have helped My New Red Shoes collect and sort shoes, sew handmade gift bags and create "first day cards." Volunteers have also given incredible support to events, day-to-day work in our office and through their service on our Board of Directors.
Each year, My New Red Shoes offers meaningful, hands-on volunteer opportunities for youth, adults, families, corporate teams and other groups. To date, we have given shoes and clothing for school to more than 15,000 Bay Area homeless and low-income children because of our dedicated volunteers. Join in our efforts today! Host a Shoe Drive Collect brand new, athletic style shoes for homeless children. Set up a collection through your school or office, with your friends and neighbors - even an individual can host a shoe drive. We'll provide you with our shoe drive kit and support along the way! Host a Clothe-A-Child Drive Raise funds with your friends, neighbors or colleagues. My New Red Shoes provides the Clothe-A-Child Drive kit and you provide the encouragement! Contact Rebecca Mayer at rebecca@mynewredshoes.org to clothe-a-child today! Sew Gift Bags Each child My New Red Shoes serves receives her gift of new shoes in a colorful, hand sewn bag made by a volunteer! This simple, hands-on project is great for both children and adults. Create a First Day Card Hand-decorated cards offering messages of encouragement are also added to gift bags along with shoes and clothing gift cards. On-Site Volunteer Opportunities Help us sort, organize and pack shoes and gift bags in our warehouse or sew a gift bag in our community engagement room! While the majority of our packing and distribution events take place during the summer, we have several opportunities for on-site volunteering throughout the year. We'd also be happy to create a customized project for your school, corporate group, Girl Scout troop, faith-based organization or other group.
