On November 7th 2010, My New Red Shoes hosted a Youth Volunteer Event for kids and their parents at our warehouse in Santa Clara. Despite the rainy weather, the service day was a great success with approx. 20 kids ranging in age from 5-12 years old. The kids were extremely enthusiastic as they raced through the warehouse hauling one, two, even three bags at a time -- all filled with heavy shoes! The volunteers reorganized our entire warehouse and even had time to sew gift bags, take inventory, and learn a bit about homelessness. Its always wonderful to see families volunteering together and My New Red Shoes is grateful to have so many supportive parents instilling the culture of service in their children!
Here are the grand totals from the day, in order to quantify all of their hard work: Shoes Moved: over 2,700 pairs Bags Sewn: 19 First Day Cards Decorated: 77 Smiles on the Faces of the Children We Serve: Countless
