Teens from Burlingame TAC spent Christmas Eve talking about My New Red Shoes and soliciting donations from customers at Peet's on Burlingame Avenue.  They did a fabulous job!  We were thrilled to be part of Peet's Holiday Donation Drive and are so lucky to have such wonderful and dedicated members of our Teen Advocacy Council.

On November 7th 2010, My New Red Shoes hosted a Youth Volunteer Event for kids and their parents at our warehouse in Santa Clara. Despite the rainy weather, the service day was a great success with approx. 20 kids ranging in age from 5-12 years old. The kids were extremely enthusiastic as they raced through the warehouse hauling one, two, even three bags at a time -- all filled with heavy shoes! The volunteers reorganized our entire warehouse and even had time to sew gift bags, take inventory, and learn a bit about homelessness. Its always wonderful to see families volunteering together and My New Red Shoes is grateful to have so many supportive parents instilling the culture of service in their children!

Here are the grand totals from the day, in order to quantify all of their hard work:
Shoes Moved: over 2,700 pairs
Bags Sewn: 19
First Day Cards Decorated: 77
Smiles on the Faces of the Children We Serve: Countless

Thanks Again!

My New Red Shoes celebrated a night of fashion and fun at its second annual Clothing for Confidence Back-to-School Fashion Show Fundraiser and Silent Auction. Over 40 student models strutted down the runway wearing the latest Old Navy fashions and of course, their very own red shoes. Thanks to all who made this event a HUGE success! Stay tuned for more photos from the event.

Hello!  I wanted to share a quote from one of our partner agencies--

"Thanks so much for this amazing service. Our families were truly so excited. We get so many donations of things that are used, which is great, but it is awesome give folks both the new shoes, and the opportunity to go out and shop for exactly what they want. There is so much dignity in that, which is probably the greatest gift of all."
